Craftsmen from Dobson Pipe Organ Builders hoist one of the largest of the wooden organ pipes into place during the installation process. Organ pipes are made of wood or metal depending on the type of sound required. The largest wooden pipes, like the one pictured here, measure two feet square and 32 feet tall. The smallest pipes are made of metal and are similar in size to a drinking straw. October 5, 2001.
