The Academy of Music opens.
· · · The Academy of Music opens at Broad and Locust Streets in Philadelphia. Designed by architects Napoleon Le Brun and Gustavus Runge, the Academy of Music features a perfectly "plain and simple" exterior, and an opulent interior with a 5,000-pound crystal chandelier.
