Rafael Viñoly Architects is chosen through a competition as project architect for the new performing arts center. Russell Johnson and Artec Consultants, Inc. continue as project acoustician. Richard Pilbrow, Chairman, Theatre Project Consultants, is named theatre designer. L.F. Driscoll / Artis T. Ore Joint Venture are selected as Construction Manager.
In May, Nora Brownell resigns as executive director. By July, civic leader Stephanie W. Naidoff, Esq. is named new president of the Regional Performing Arts Center.
