RPAC Reaches Agreements with Philadelphia Orchestra and Full
Roster of Resident Performing Arts Companies · · · The Philadelphia Orchestra, the Opera Company of Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Ballet, the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society sign agreements naming the companies as official residents of The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. With this agreement, the companies join PHILADANCO, American Theater Arts for Youth, Inc., and Peter Nero and the Philly Pops®, which had earlier reached agreements with RPAC. The Academy of Music also signs a 99-year lease agreement. RPAC, which owns The Kimmel Center, will manage the historic Academy, which was built in 1857 as an opera house and was purchased by The Philadelphia Orchestra in 1957. |
