Part Time Security Officer
Department: SecurityReports to: Security Supervisor & Director of Security
Status: Non-exempt, part time
Summary:
This position is under the direct supervision of the Security Supervisor for assigned shift of the Security Department and is responsible for the protection, safeguarding, and security of assets, staff, patrons and all visitors.
Essential Functions:
- Enforce Kimmel Center access control / badge procedures.
- Develop and distribute employee identification badges.
- Monitor entrances and protect property from theft, sabotage, fire and accidents.
- Detain any visitors suspected to be involved in illegal activity while on Kimmel Center property and inform proper authorities.
- Receive deliveries and ensure distribution to the appropriate personnel.
- Provide any needed assistance to patrons, employees and visitors with the department's capabilities.
- Serve as training officer to new security staff if necessary; may perform duties of a Security Supervisor during required coverage as assigned.
- Proactively patrol the property as instructed.
- Provide a highly visible security presence to help deter criminal activity and act promptly to address unacceptable behavior.
- Seek opportunities to interact with patrons and clients, and be friendly, helpful and attentive to enhance their experience.
- While on patrol, be alert and identify potential safety hazards, mitigate hazards, and make appropriate notification of conditions of concern.
- Respond to, investigate, and write reports on all incidents and accidents including medical emergencies, fires, alarms, bomb threats, etc. in accordance with the departmental policies and procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Good working knowledge of security operations, safety practices in a business environment and enforcement procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with staff and the public.
- Ability to make independent and good judgment decisions within proper policy and procedures.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED, or at least 10 years of verifiable employment history.
- Prior Security/Law Enforcement experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English for the purpose of public interaction and report writing.
- Ability to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Negative result on pre-employment background and drug screenings.
- Successful completion of Security Department Training Program.
- Ability to maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality standard.
- Neat and professional appearance.
- Friendly and professional demeanor.
- Ability to provide quality customer service.
- Ability to handle typical and emergency and crisis situations efficiently and effectively at all Kimmel Center, Inc. sites.
- Part-time officers are required to be available to work at minimum of fifteen-(15) hours per week.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed inside and outside the property with exposure to inclement weather and unpredictable crisis situations. Shift work required.
