Resident Company Education and Performance Programs
The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts and the Academy of Music are pleased to present a list of the Resident Companies’ educational and performance programs available for young children, students, and adults.

American Theater Arts for Youth
American TAFY presents school children of all ages with professional, curriculum-related theater. Their 22 annual tours reach 1.2 million young people in over 400 cities nationwide. With their performances in the Kimmel Center, American TAFY continues to augment their role as a key educational resource by developing theater audiences of the future within a framework of community engagement and enrichment.

The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia
The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia works with local youth-oriented music organizations to reinforce the beauty and intrinsic value of great music among interested young people and their families. This is achieved through specially arranged group outings to Chamber Orchestra performances and rehearsals, opportunities to meet in small groups with members of the orchestra and guest artists, pre- and post-concert lectures and other individually tailored programs.

The Opera Company of Philadelphia
The mission of the Sounds of Learning program is to support the long-term educational objectives of the Opera Company of Philadelphia. The program goal is to encourage arts-integrated literacy development by having students read and act out the opera libretti in their schools. Teachers integrate the reading of the libretti into the humanities and sciences curricula. After four to six weeks of creative class work, students attend a dress rehearsal as a culmination.

Peter Nero and the Philly Pops®
In addition to musical outreach programs throughout the region, Pops subscribers can see Peter Nero and the Philly Pops from the other side of the footlights. Musicians Talk is an education program available to subscribers prior to each subscription concert. These informal lectures, given by guest speakers, provide educational and artisitc insight into the concerts.

PHILADANCO
The Philadelphia Dance Company (PHILADANCO) presents the highest quality of professional dance performance and improves the skills of emerging and professional dancers and choreographers in a nurturing environment, while increasing the appreciation of dance among its many communities.

Philadelphia Chamber Music Society
The Philadelphia Chamber Music Society (PCMS) provides key cultural experiences to students, helps to develop future audiences and enrich existing audiences through their series of pre-concert lectures, their In-School String Seminars, master classes, free children’s concerts and free ticket program.

The Philadelphia Orchestra
The Philadelphia Orchestra offers an exhilarating season of opportunities to engage with the rich, complex world of orchestral music. This season offers three School Concerts and Open Rehearsals which provide students with numerous opportunities to see young musicians, orchestra members and special guest artists at work in the artistic process.

The Pennsylvania Ballet
Pennsylvania Ballet’s outreach and education program, Accent on Dance, was formalized in the Fall of 1996 with the dual mission of providing meaningful educational experiences that contribute to the cultural development of Philadelphia-area children, especially the traditionally under-served, and developing and educating the ballet audience of the future.

Kimmel Center Presents
To champion access to the arts, the Kimmel Center offers a wide range of quality educational programs for students, educators, and adults throughout the year and provides opportunities for everyone to enjoy diverse performances via the subsidized ticket program and student matinee concerts. The Kimmel Center is home to the outstanding Youth Jazz Ensemble (KCYJE) whose members serve as ambassadors to the cultural and artistic communities.
