Richard Goode is highly regarded for his recordings of music by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, and Brahms. "Goode is one of the finest pianists in the world. Few can match his unfailingly beautiful tone, effortless technical command, interpretive insight and total emotional commitment to the music he plays" (Washington Post). The Times (London) has described Goode's live performances as possessing 'staggering virtuosity and musical insight.' A pianist's pianist, and a keyboard artist of insight and refinement, Goode returns to Philadelphia with a program dedicated to late Beethoven. After a similar themed NY recital many years ago the New York Times stated 'There is an old and, I think, spurious saying in piano teaching that says, "First you learn the notes, then the interpretation." When Mr. Goode played yesterday, interpretation was the notes: it was the silences, precise but natural, the gentle accents that give two-note phrases meaning, the absolute clarity of the dotted rhythms.'
