The East Coast Chamber Orchestra (ECCO)—formed in 2001 and comprised of soloists, chamber musicians, members of major American orchestras, and Grammy award winners—has earned raves from the Washington Post ('These youthful players are helping form classical music's future') and the Philadelphia Inquirer ('The youthful vigor of the group created a kind of heat that took the music-making to a higher or deeper place'). are back with PCMS for a fourth time by popular demand. Back with PCMS for a fourth time by popular demand, ECCO presents a diverse and exciting program bookended with divertimentos by Mozart and Bartok and also featuring an early work of Britten's based upon a wistful, nostalgic excerpt from his mentor and fellow composer Frank Bridge's Three Idylls for String Quartet. The piece concludes with a devilish fugue weaving in quotations from other works of Bridge around the main theme.
