At 30 years old, Jonathan Biss has already developed a distinct musical personality to match his outstanding virtuosity. Wherever he plays, he wins over critics—the Chicago Sun-Times called him a 'poetic pianist of the first order'—and moves audiences. For his March PCMS recital Biss brings his 'unerring sophistication' (The New Yorker) to a program that will highlight seminal classics of the piano repertoire. At the heart of this program are two works by Schumann—a composer near and dear to Mr. Biss's heart: 'What I feel for Schumann goes beyond love and admiration; the intensity of his passion for music, and his will to use music as a poetic and personal, yet fully realized and deeply expressive language strike me as the highest aims imaginable for a musician.' --Jonathan Biss
