Haydn: Quartet in B Minor, Op. 64, No. 2Janáček: Quartet No. 1, 'Kreutzer Sonata'IntermissionSchubert: Quartet in G Major, D. 887 'One of the finest young string quartets' (Gramophone), the Doric Quartet has emerged as the leading British ensemble of the new generation, receiving enthusiastic praise from audiences and critics across the globe. This truly is a quartet with a golden touch, regularly performing to packed houses and having received first prizes and five stars for every one of their recordings. At the heart of their PCMS debut is Schubert's last quartet—the epic G Major, D. 887. As Franz Liszt said to Schubert: 'Such is the spell of your emotional world that it very nearly blinds us to the greatness of your craftsmanship.'
