New artists include Joan Baez with Steve Earle, Buddy Valastro: The Cake Boss, Louis CK, and The xx

Everyone’s talking about the summer heat, so the Kimmel Center is changing the conversation to talk about fall and the opening of its 2010-2011 Season, which kicks-off in September.

 

Announced today is the addition of new artists and productions to the already diverse Kimmel Center presents and Broadway season line-ups. And beginning today at 10am, single tickets for select performances are available for purchase at the box office, online, or by phone.

 

Below is a full list of all newly added 2010-2011 shows, followed by a list of shows for which single tickets are now on sale. Tickets are available at the Kimmel Center Box Office, by phone at 215-893-1999, or online at kimmelcenter.org.

Continuing to play to sold out houses, Bruce Graham’s The Philly Fan is back! In this one-man, tour-de-force, two-time Barrymore Award winning actor Tom McCarthy takes audiences on a journey through Philadelphia’s sports history of the last 50 years and the frustrations therein.

The young London quartet bonded in school over a shared love of stripped back anti-folk and mid-90s R&B. The xx’s unique sound befits a wide range of influences that include everything from Aaliyaah to CocoRosie, Rhianna to The Cure, Missy Elliot to the Chromatics, The Kills to Ginuwine, The Pixies to Mariah Carey, and Justin Timberlake to Tracey & The Plastics. Officially named a 'living legend' by the Library of Congress, Brubeck's influence on jazz and classical music is immeasurable. His influential sound remains a hallmark of innovation. The jazz master returns to the Kimmel Center for a concert sure to appeal to aficionadas of all ages.

Conductor Daniel Harding and the Staatskapelle open the Kimmel Center’s orchestral season with Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem, Op. 45 (A German Requiem). The orchestra is believed to be the only one in continuous existence for more than four and a half centuries -- it celebrated its 460th Jubilee in 2008.
