Double Emmy award winner Kathy Griffin brings her comedic chops to Philly to perform stand up on stage at the Academy of Music on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 7:30pm, as part of her expanding 2010 17-city tour.  The “My Life on the D List” reality star dishes her latest views on pop culture—from movies, TV and fashion to life with her mother, Maggie Griffin.

Best known for her supporting role as Vickie Groener of NBC 10’s Suddenly Susan sitcom, Kathy Griffin has paved a path all her own as a stand-up comedian with a series of half hour HBO comedy specials including the hour long special A Hot Cup of Talk (1998).  Bravo network has aired the comedy specials Kathy Griffin Is Not Nicole Kidman and the stand-up comedy The D-List, later spun into the reality series, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List, winner of two Emmys. Her recent memoir release, Tip It: The World According to Maggie (June 2010) chronicles both Kathy and Maggie’s mother- daughter relationship beyond the reality series with candid humor.

A native of Chicago, Illinois, Griffin moved west to join the Los Angeles Groundlings comedy improvisational troupe in the early 1980s.  Thereafter, she received various guest starring roles on TV series Mad About You, ER and Seinfeld, to name a few.  She has supplied voices for characters on the animated series Dilbert and The Simpsons, and she appeared in a dual role on the X-Files as well as in Eminem’s video, “The Real Slim Shady,” co-directed by Dr. Dre.  She has also been featured in the films It’s Pat, Four Rooms, Muppets From Space, and in the animated feature, Lion of Oz among others.

Griffin has a great passion for reality TV. She participated in and won Celebrity Mole on ABC, hosted the NBC reality series Average Joe and hosted the MTV series, Kathy’s So-Called Reality.
