After successfully announcing and selling out their U.K. touring dates, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds have confirmed a handful of U.S. touring dates in support of their forthcoming debut album including an exclusive area performance at the Academy of Music with special guest The Hours on Friday, November 11, 2011.  The North American tour is in support of Noel’s self-titled debut album, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, scheduled for release on November 8th (Sour Mash/Mercury Records).

The High Flying Birds, described by Noel as a collective rather than a new band, will feature one-time Oasis touring member Mike Rowe, Zutons bass player Russell Pritchard, David 'Macca' Donald on guitars and Jeremy Stacey, brother of long-term friend Paul 'Strangeboy' Stacey, on drums. London-based rock ensemble The Hours opens the show. Tickets for Philadelphia performance go on sale Friday, September 9, 2011 at 10am!

Tickets for Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds range from $39.50 to $95, and will be available for purchase by calling 215-893-1999, online at www.kimmelcenter.org, or at the Kimmel Center box office, which is open daily from 10am to 6pm and later on performance evenings. (Additional fees may apply.)

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds was recorded in London and completed in Los Angeles during 2010 and the first half of 2011. The album was co-produced by Noel Gallagher and Dave Sardy, who produced the last Oasis album, Dig Out Your Soul (2008).

At a press conference (http://youtu.be/p_OBngICXRo) earlier this summer announcing his new project, Noel stated that the band would be performing classic Oasis tracks along with his new solo material. “I’m proud of them and of what they mean to people,” he said of the Oasis repertoire. “I’ll never do a gig without playing them. They’re like drugs to me.”

And when asked by his manager who the High Flying Birds are, Noel responded “They aren’t anyone in particular. Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds is me and whoever is around at the time of whatever it is that I’m doing, a loose collective kinda thing.”

On August 30th, the first U.S. single “If I Had A Gun” from Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds made its radio debut on KROQ, Los Angeles. And on November 10th, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will make their network television debut on the Late Show With David Letterman.

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds marks Gallagher’s first solo album project since the 2009 split of multi-platinum band Oasis.  As songwriter, guitarist and producer of Oasis since the band’s inception in 1993, Noel Gallagher was at the helm for their global success, from the launch of their first indie U.K. singles in 1994 to their final shows together in the summer of 2009.  Over the course of their seven consecutive #1 studio albums, Oasis sold over 70 million records worldwide and charted 22 consecutive Top 10 U.K. hits from 1995 to 2008 (including eight #1’s), creating an astounding historical record.

The Mike Bruce-directed video was filmed in the desert outside Los Angeles in May 2011 while Noel was putting the finishing touches to his debut solo album.  www.noelgallagher.com www.facebook.com/noelgallaghermusic   www.twitter.com/noelgallagher

The Hours, one of the most dynamic and provocative rock ensembles on the London music scene today, got their start when singer-songwriter-guitarist Antony Genn (whose BritPop credentials include stints with Pulp and Elastica), and multi-instrumentalist Martin Slattery (whose resume includes playing with Shaun Ryder's Black Grape) formed The Mescaleros with then-former Clash-frontman Joe Strummer in 1999. The Mescaleros performed their first gig in Genn's hometown of Sheffield in June 1999 and Antony (who'd been all of 8 when London Calling first hit the record store racks) co-wrote and co-produced Rock Art and the X Ray Style, the highly-acclaimed album that marked Strummer's long-awaited return to music.
