Phamous Philadelphians Take The Kimmel Center's "Phanny Test"
RPAC Launches Seat Campaign
September 7, 2000

The Regional Performing Arts Center has invited Philadelphians to take a seat. On Monday, September 11, singer Patti LaBelle, 76ers President Pat Croce, Ben Franklin, the Phillie Phanatic, a Philadanco dancer, and the Philadelphia Orchestra Concertmaster, along with passers by, will take a "Phanny Test" sampling auditorium-style chairs on the sidewalk outside The Park Hyatt at the Bellevue on the corner of Broad and Walnut Streets.

Opinions received from participants will be used to help design the chairs to be installed in both the Concert Hall and the Recital Theater at The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, scheduled to open on December 14, 2001.

The "Phanny Test" marks the launch of RPAC's Seat Campaign, designed to help raise funds for Philadelphia's new world-class performance space. "The focus of our fund raising efforts up to now has been on contributions upwards of $50,000," explains RPAC President Stephanie W. Naidoff. "Having secured nearly 93% of our $255 million goal, the Seat Campaign is a way for us to extend our reach to others who wish to help build the halls they will soon help fill. And we anticipate many, many full houses in the future!"

For a commitment of $15,000, contributors to the Seat Campaign will be honored with an engraved plaque permanently secured to a chair in the Concert Hall or Recital Theater. Other benefits will include permanent recognition in the Kimmel Center Lobby, advance ticket purchase opportunity during the inaugural year for Center presentations, and an invitation to participate in the opening gala.
