PHILADANCO Premieres at The Kimmel Center

After years as a nomadic company moving from space to space around Philadelphia, PHILADANCO -The Philadelphia Dance Company - finally has a permanent home at The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. On Thursday, January 17, the company will perform in that new home for the first time.

PHILADANCO will take the stage in the intimate Perelman Theater to present "Conversation for Seven Souls," choreographed in memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.; "Rosa," a tribute to Rosa Parks; and two newly-commissioned ballets. The company will perform three days only: Thursday, January 17 at 7:30 p.m., Friday January 18 at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday January 19 at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. There will be special performance for students only on Friday January 18 at 11 a.m. Founded by Artistic/Executive Director Joan Myers Brown in 1970, PHILADANCO is now the nation's 4th largest Black dance company. PHILADANCO is one of eight resident companies at the Regional Performing Arts Center (RPAC) which includes both The Kimmel Center and the Academy of Music.
