Tickets for Kimmel Center Presents Jazz, Pop, Classical, Folk, New Age and Family Performances Make Great Holiday Gifts

Anne Murray
Songstress Nneena Freelon will kick off the holiday season with some jazz sizzle as she graces the Perelman Theater stage in her Kimmel Center debut on Saturday, December 7 at 7:30 p.m. Come experience the voice that is getting worldwide attention and rave reviews for her latest CD Tales of Wonder: Celebrating Stevie Wonder.
Holiday performances commence when Anne Murray takes to the stage at the Academy of Music with What a Wonderful Christmas on Sunday, December 8 at 8pm. Known as "Canada’s songbird," Murray will transport the audience to a winter wonderland. Anne Murray’s long and acclaimed career has produced a string of top hits including "Snowbird," "You Needed Me" and "Danny’s Song." Accompanied by a symphony orchestra, she will celebrate the holidays in this special concert.
Bringing a modern twist to traditional holiday fare, Colors of Christmas featuring Oleta Adams, Peabo Bryson, Jon Secada and Jody Watley will be at the Academy of Music on Monday, December 9 at 8pm. These four diverse voices will ring in the holidays with a gospel, R&B, pop and Latin flair.
Traditional holiday performances continue at The Kimmel Center when the angelic voices of the critically acclaimed Vienna Choir Boys return to Verizon Hall Friday, December 13 at 8pm. The Vienna Choir Boys’ Verizon Hall debut during The Kimmel Center’s Opening Celebration last year was sold out, so don’t miss this chance to see these beloved singers this year.
George Winston will soothe audiences on December 15 with his piano performance in Verizon Hall at 8pm. Millions have enjoyed the melodic music of George Winston’s solo piano albums, including Autumn, December and Linus & Lucy. This very special concert will feature songs from his latest CD based on the music of The Doors.
Bring the kids, because these are two performances the whole family will enjoy!
Cirque Éloize will dazzle audiences when they take flight over the Perelman Theater stage Tuesday, December 17 at 7:30pm; Wednesday, December 18 at 7:30pm; Thursday, December 19 at 7:30pm; Friday, December 20 at 7:30pm; Saturday, December 21 at 2:30pm & 7:30pm; and Sunday, December 22 at 2:30pm. With a show entitled Nomade, Cirque Éloize invites the audience on a surreal journey along the highways and the byways of their imagination. A community of performers stages a carnival filled with song, dance, music, juggling and acrobatic feats.
Since the 1967 release of the now-classic "Alice’s Restaurant," Arlo Guthrie has been a folk singer at the forefront of social consciousness and activism. He brought the house down as a part of Judy Collins’ Wildflower Festival last summer. Now he returns with his unique brand of folk and fun for a solo date with orchestra in Verizon Hall, Friday, December 27 at 8pm.
Ever thought you couldn’t get the little ones interested in the father of Baroque music? Well think again, as PDQ Bach with Professor Peter Schickele presents the music of Bach that will tickle your funny bone on Saturday, December 28 at 8pm in Verizon Hall. The fabled (and fictional) forgotten 21st child of Johann Sebastian proves once again that classical music does indeed have a sense of humor with a concert including the inimitable Schleptet, the poignantly brazen Suite from the Civilian Barber and the longest bassoon joke of all time: the minemeister’s Concerto for Bassoon Versus Orchestra.
