Harold A. Honickman Appointed to Kimmel Center, Inc. Board of Directors

Daniel J. Whelan, Chairman of the Board of Kimmel Center, Inc., has announced the appointment of Harold A. Honickman, Chairman of Honickman Affiliates and Pepsi-Cola and National Brand Beverages, Ltd, to the Kimmel Center Board of Directors.

A resident of Philadelphia, Honickman began his career in 1957 with the purchase of a Pepsi plant in Pennsauken, New Jersey and eventually grew the company into one of the largest private label bottling operations in the country. The combined Honickman businesses today are one of the nation’s largest privately owned bottling and distribution organizations.

Honickman and his wife, Lynne, do much to support the arts and human services in the Philadelphia region. Honickman serves on the Board of Trustees of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, the Library Advisory Board of Duke University Libraries and the Advisory Board of the Honickman Foundation in Philadelphia. Honickman graduated from Widener University in 1955. He and Lynne have two children and four grandchildren.

Kimmel Center, Inc., a charitable, not-for-profit organization, owns, manages, supports and maintains The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, which includes Verizon Hall, Perelman Theater, Innovation Studio and the Merck Arts Education Center. Kimmel Center, Inc. also manages the Academy of Music, owned by the Philadelphia Orchestra Association. The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts and the Academy of Music serve as home to eight Resident Company performing arts organizations, including The Philadelphia Orchestra, Opera Company of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Ballet, Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, American Theater Arts for Youth, Philadanco, Philadelphia Chamber Music Society and Peter Nero and the Philly Pops®. Kimmel Center, Inc.’s mission also includes arts in education, community outreach and a rich diversity of programming through its Kimmel Center Presents and Citizens Bank Broadway at the Academy series of performances.

The Kimmel Center, Inc. Board of Directors was recently named by Worth magazine as one of America’s most prestigious nonprofit boards.
