Kimmel Center, Inc. Offers Great Student Deals
New PASS Program, Student and Community Rush, Free Tours and Performances Provide Access to the Arts
October 13, 2003

Kimmel Center, Inc., the non-profit organization that owns and operates the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts and manages the Academy of Music, offers several programs designed to keep the arts accessible both to students and the general public.
Beginning this season, Kimmel Center Presents performances are part of the new Philadelphia Art Student Sampler (PASS) program, created in conjunction with Campus Visit/Philadelphia and several of the city’s premiere performing arts organizations. This special program, designed to keep the arts accessible to young people on a budget, lets students create an individualized PASS to the arts by choosing from among 10 world-class performances each semester. The PASS costs $56 for three events (or $100 for 6 events), essentially offering students three performances for the price of one. Students can purchase a PASS at the Kimmel Center box office or online at www.ticketphiladelphia.org.
Kimmel Center Presents events included in this year’s PASS program are the Mark Morris Dance Group (January 29, 2004), Two Recitals/One Night (February 5, 2004), Paco de Lucia (February 29, 2004) and "A Night in Tunisia," a dedication to Dizzy Gillespie (March 27, 2004). Resident Companies of the Kimmel Center and Academy of Music participating in the program include The Philadelphia Orchestra, Opera Company of Philadelphia, Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia and Philadelphia Chamber Music Society. Performances by Penn Presents and Dance Celebration are also included. Student Rush tickets are occasionally available for Kimmel Center Presents performances.
Student Rush tickets are $10 and are best available seating, based on prior sales. Students may call on the day of the event for availability. When available, Student Rush tickets go on sale 30 minutes before performance time and may be purchased at the Kimmel Center box office with a valid student ID. Limit one per person.
A limited number of Community Rush tickets are available for every Kimmel Center Presents performance at the Kimmel Center. $10 Community Rush Tickets go on sale the day of the event and can be purchased at the Kimmel Center box office beginning at 5:30pm for evening performances and 11:30am for matinees. Limit one per person.
Three times a week, Kimmel Center Presents offers free performances in the Kimmel Center’s Commonwealth Plaza. Free in the Plaza performances are held every Wednesday at 5pm and Saturdays and Sundays at Noon. All Free in the Plaza performances are open to the public. Performances feature talented artists from the city and surrounding regions, including performing arts students in the Philadelphia area.
