The open captioning sign is located on the left side of the stage in the Parquet section.
Kimmel Center, Inc. is now offering open captioning at select performances of its Citizens Bank Broadway at the Academy series at the Academy of Music. Open captioned performances will begin Sunday, November 16, during the run of FAME—The Musical.

Much like closed captioning, which provides text-based assistance to viewers of television broadcast programs, open captioning allows performing arts patrons to read the words that are spoken or sung in the theater across a screen that scrolls the text. The screen is placed on the side of the stage and is visible to all patrons seated near it, providing a service for the hearing audience as well as the deaf or hearing-impaired.

Patrons who require this service will receive a 20% ticket discount in a designated area of the Parquet seating section of the Academy close to the location of the screen.

The schedule for Open Captioned performances will include:
FAME—The Musical: Sunday, November 16 at 7pm
Urinetown: Wednesday, November 19 at 2pm
Oliver! Wednesday, January 7 at 8pm
Les Misérables: Tuesday, March 9 at 8pm

To purchase seats reserved for open captioned performances call 215-875-7647 or send an e-mail to nathanc@kimmelcenter.org. Tickets for groups of 20 or more may be purchased by calling 215-790-5883.
