Violinist Hilary Hahn Makes Kimmel Center Debut February 22
February 3, 2004

Hilary Hahn, having studied violin since the age of three, enrolled in the Curtis Institute of Music at age 10. A year and a half later, she made her major orchestra debut with the Baltimore Symphony. Her 1993 Philadelphia Orchestra debut was followed by engagements with some of the most sought after orchestras in the world, including the Cleveland Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic and the Pittsburgh Symphony. Though she finished all of the requirements at the Curtis Institute by age 16, Hahn stayed on to study and coach with Peter Serkin, Gary Graffman and Jaime Laredo, graduating at 19.
Now, at 22 years old, Hilary Hahn has earned a Grammy Award nomination and has been named "America’s Best" young classical musician by Time magazine. Performing regularly with some of the world’s most prestigious orchestras, Hahn has played in Europe, Asia and North America. Hahn was feted by Munich critics as one of "those rare talents one encounters once in a century." (Suddeutscher Zeitung)
Hilary Hahn will be joined by pianist Natalie Zhu and will perform Mozart’s Violin Sonata in G Major, K. 301 and Violin Sonata in A Major, K. 526; Bach’s Partita No. 2 in D Minor, BWV 1004; and Bloch’s Violin Sonata No. 1.
