Kimmel Center Presents Fresh Ink proudly presents The Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival featuring The Orion String Quartet and Marc Neikrug with special guest, Tony Award-winning actor John Rubinstein, on Tuesday, March 30 at 7:30pm. Fresh Ink is the Kimmel Center’s critically acclaimed series for new music launched last fall.

The program for the evening will include the Philadelphia premiere of Piano Quintet, co-commissioned by the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, ARTS San Antonio, Chamber Music Sedona, 92nd Street Y and the Kimmel Center featuring Festival Artistic Director Marc Neikrug on piano and the Orion String Quartet. The program also includes a special performance of Neikrug's work "Through Roses," a ground breaking, poignant piece for a chamber ensemble and actor about a violinist trying to survive his memories of the Holocaust. The piece features special appearances by Tony Award-winning actor John Rubinstein as the Actor, and guest artists Tara Helen O'Connor (flute), Margaret Kampmeier (piano), Stephen Taylor (oboe) and Steven Weiser (clarinet).

Hailed for its exquisite artistry, technical mastery and astute approach to concert programming, the Orion String Quartet is one of the most admired chamber ensembles on the international music scene. The members of the Quartet—who recently celebrated their 15th anniversary season—include violinists Daniel Phillips and Todd Phillips (brothers who share the first violin chair equally), violist Steven Tenenbom and cellist Timothy Eddy.

The Fresh Ink series is a new addition to the Kimmel Center Presents roster and promises to provide some of the most artistically interesting performances of the 2003-2004 season. This non-traditional, informal (no tuxedos allowed!) classical music series features 21st century music, exciting young musicians, and inexpensive tickets. Fresh Ink continues with classical pianist Christopher O’Riley playing the music of British alternative band Radiohead (May 6, 2004).

Tickets for the March 30 Fresh Ink performance are $26 & $33 and can be purchased by calling 215-893-1999, online at www.kimmelcenter.org, or at the Kimmel Center box office, open daily from 10am to 6pm and later on performance evenings. For group sales call 215-790-5883.

A limited number of $10 tickets will be available for every Kimmel Center Presents performance. $10 tickets go on sale the day of the event and can be purchased at the Kimmel Center box office beginning at 5:30pm for evening performances and 11:30am for matinees. Limit one per person.
