Philadanco Presents People’s Choice at the Perelman Theater April 1 - 3
March 1, 2004

PHILADANCO returns to the Kimmel Center on Thursday, April 1 at 7:30pm, Friday, April 2 at 7:30pm and Saturday, April 3 at 2:30pm and 7:30pm with PEOPLE’S CHOICE. These performances will feature audience favorites including Pretty is Skin Deep, Ugly To The Bone by Talley Beatty, Exotica by Ronald K. Brown, Suite Otis by George Faison and Enemy Behind The Gates by Christopher L. Huggins. Joan Brown, the company’s founder, specifically selected these pieces for the April performances to satisfy the requests from the Philadelphia audience to see their favorites.

PHILADANCO will also offer two special student matinees on Friday, April 2 at 10am and noon.

"Philadanco proved once again that its performers are irresistible. Swift, strong and sultry, they are full of heart and full of soul. Their technique alone makes them formidable: the soaring leg extensions; the jumps that have them descend softly to the ground, then rebound as if trampoline-sprung; the vivid articulation of shoulders, spine, and pelvis; the flawless command of complex, shifting rhythms." (The Philadelphia Inquirer).

The Philadelphia Dance Company (Philadanco) was founded in 1970 by Joan Myers Brown and is famous for cutting-edge choreography, often blending African-American inspirations with ballet, jazz and modern dance. Over the years, it has grown from a grass roots organization to a professional dance company, esteemed nationally and internationally. PHILADANCO’s eclectic repertoire ranges from works by renowned choreographers to the introduction of new material through a variety of commissions and other innovative projects. PHILADANCO is a resident company of the Kimmel Center’s Perelman Theater.
