Kimmel Center Presents Wachovia Classics: Master Musicians String Series concludes Sunday, April 18 at 2pm with the Mutter Previn Harrell Trio. The program will include Brahms’ Piano Trio in B Major, Beethoven’s Piano Trio in C Minor and Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio No. 1 in D Minor.

Take this rare opportunity to see three superstars join forces. At the piano is legendary composer and conductor André Previn. In recent years, his diverse achievements have won him a succession of honors, from Germany’s Commander’s Cross of the Order of Merit and a Kennedy Center Honor for Lifetime Achievement, to a Grammy Award for Best Chamber Music Recording and the Grand Prix du Disque for his recording of his first opera, A Streetcar Named Desire. Previn annually appears as guest conductor for the Vienna Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony, New York Philharmonic, Pittsburgh Symphony and San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, to name a few.

Joining Previn is his wife, violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter. This season she will play with the Philharmonic Orchestras of London, Milan, New York, Oslo, Paris, Pittsburgh and Warsaw. Mutter has received many awards for her numerous recordings, including the German Record Prize, The Record Academy Prize, the Grand Prix du Disque, the International Record Prize, as well as several Grammy Awards.

Rounding out the trio is cellist Lynn Harrell. Harrell is a consummate soloist, chamber musician, recitalist, conductor and teacher. He is a frequent guest of many of the leading orchestras, including the Boston and Chicago symphonies, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the New York and Los Angeles Philharmonics, the Dallas Symphony (who he guest conducted,) the London Philharmonic with Kurt Masur conducting and the Israel Philharmonic. Harrell is the recipient of numerous awards including the Piatigorsky Award, the Ford Foundation Concert Artists’ Award and the first Avery Fisher Prize. He has won two Grammy Awards—in 1981 for the Tchaikovsky Piano Trio and in 1987 for the complete Beethoven Piano Trios.
