Kimmel Center’s Critically Acclaimed Fresh Ink Series Presents Christopher O’Riley Plays Radiohead Thursday, May 6, 2004
April 13, 2004

Christopher O’Riley will perform his own solo piano arrangements of Radiohead songs, including tracks from the band’s five albums and B-sides. Christopher O’Riley’s most recent recording is True Love Waits, featuring the music of Radiohead. "He is melodically vivid yet also noisily orchestral, in both his writing and playing, revoicing Radiohead’s distortions, threats, loveliness and dismay." (Rolling Stone)
O’Riley’s broad repertoire ranges from music of the English Renaissance and French Baroque periods to the new works of today’s leading composers and he often plays many of his own arrangements and transcripts. He has a performance schedule that regularly takes him to major cities in America and is a frequent guest with orchestras in Philadelphia, San Francisco, Boston, Los Angeles and New York, among others. O’Riley was the featured soloist with the Ulster Orchestra on its first American Tour in 1992 and his honors include top prizes at the Van Cliburn, Leeds, Busoni and Montreal competitions, as well as an Avery Fisher Career Grant and the Andrew Wolf Chamber Music Prize.
"From The Top" is Christopher O’Riley’s weekly radio series that airs on NPR stations across the country. The program showcases the nation’s most outstanding young classical musicians and debuted in January 2000.
The Fresh Ink series is a new addition to the Kimmel Center Presents roster that debuted last fall. This non-traditional, informal (no tuxedos allowed!) classical music series features 21st century music, exciting young musicians, and inexpensive tickets.
