Kimmel Center Opens Doors to Mummers Fans
Parade-Goers Can Warm Up, Eat Lunch, Enjoy Entertainment Inside Commonwealth Plaza on New Year’s Day

In honor of the Mummer’s Parade, the Kimmel Center will welcome the public inside its doors from 10 am to 6 pm on January 1, 2005 to enjoy a parade break, warm up, and grab a bite to eat. The Peco Café in Commonwealth Plaza will be open for refreshments and there will be ‘Free In the Plaza’ entertainment throughout the day.
Daria is a singer-songwriter equally adept at perfoming for children's audiences and on the Philly club circuit. She has performed on the Commonwealth Plaza stage many times and been a participant in the Kimmel Center's annual Summer Solstice event. She is scheduled to perform at 11am and Noon. John Brennan and John McGillian, are a local Irish button accordion and guitar duo. They will play and sing Irish and Celtic folk music, sea shanties and sing-a-longs at 1pm and 2pm.
A tasty menu of Philly fare will be available for hungry parade-watchers including cheese steak stations, hot dog carts, soft pretzels, chili station, Krispy Krème doughnuts, and an assortment of Philly-brewed beer.
"The Kimmel Center values our role as a community gathering place and this is a great way for us to participate in a uniquely Philadelphia community event," said Janice Price, Kimmel Center, Inc. President and CEO.
In addition, The Kimmel Center’s Cadence Restaurant will host a New Year’s Day brunch beginning at 11 am until 4 pm. Unlimited food and champagne will be available while enjoying the perfect parade view from above. Guests will have access to both indoor and outdoor terrace seating looking down onto Broad Street as the parade passes. Football fans will also be able to watch their favorite games on the restaurant’s large-screen television. Tickets for the brunch are $85 and reservations are required.
