Evita will Hold Open Auditions for Local Youngsters on May 24
Legendary Andrew Lloyd Webber Musical is Looking to Cast Area Youth to Sing in Upcoming Philadelphia Engagement at Academy of Music

The national touring production of EVITA, Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Tony Award winning musical masterpiece, will hold open auditions to cast eight local children between the ages of 8 and 12 to perform roles and sing in the production’s upcoming engagement at the Academy of Music June 21 - 26.

Auditions will be held on Tuesday May 24 at 4pm at the Kimmel Center’s Commonwealth Plaza, Broad & Spruce Sts., Philadelphia.

Potential candidates must be between the ages of 8 and 12, and preferably no taller than 5-2. Auditionees must come prepared to sing a 2-minute song. Piano and accompanist will be provided. A total of eight winners (4 boys, 4 girls), plus alternates/swings will be selected by a panel of judges in the local performing arts field. Local casting director Mike Lemon (The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, In Her Shoes, Jersey Girl) will head the judging panel. For more information visit www.kimmelcenter.org/auditions.

EVITA is the winner of seven Tony Awards including Best Musical, Score, Book and Director. The show’s hit song “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina,” spent years on the world’s pop charts and the original Broadway cast album win a Grammy in 1981. The touring production of EVITA was recreated by renowned Director/Producer Hal Prince and choreographer Larry Fuller.

EVITA, part of the Kimmel Center Presents Broadway at the Academy theater series, comes to the Academy of Music for eight performances June 21 through June 26.
