Kimmel Center Launches First Performing Arts Center Blog Site
September 12, 2005

The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia today announced the launch of one of the first performing arts center blog sites in the nation. The public is invited to log on and voice their thoughts and opinions about the multifaceted world of the performing arts and the Kimmel Center. Comprised of daily submissions written by Kimmel Center staff and presenting artists, the site provides an online forum for open and informal discussion on everything from hip-hop and classical music, to pop, world and jazz music, and offers a behind the scenes glimpse into a major performing arts venue, in-depth discussions about artists, and real-time arts-related and Kimmel Center news.
Continuing its mission to strengthen and champion the performing arts community, the Kimmel Center encourages the public to post uninhibited comments, feedback, suggestions and questions*.
Designed for novice and avid blog users alike, the easy-to-navigate site includes features such as: Blogging 101, a brief blog tutorial and glossary; an exclusive Flickr photo slide show of artists, and pre and post concert events; links to arts-related blogs; and monthly archives. The site also offers a list of categories on the blog main-page including jazz, world-pop, classical, theater, music education, technology and general news providing easy access to genre-specific blog entries.
A blog, short for weblog, is an interactive journal where an author posts observations or opinions in an informal web setting.
