Drag Cabaret Duo Kiki and Herb Make their Kimmel Center Debut
September 15, 2005

Kiki and Herb, the cabaret duo who took San Francisco and New York by storm, finally make their Kimmel Center debut, performing in the Perelman Theater on Sunday, October 15 at 7pm and 9:30pm.
Tickets for Kiki and Herb on Saturday, October 15 are $30 and $40 and can be purchased by calling 215-893-1999, online or at the Kimmel Center box office, open daily from 10am to 6pm and later on performance evenings. (Additional fees may apply).
Kiki (Justin Bond) and Herb (Kenny Mellman) began their now notorious cabaret duo in 1991, spontaneously creating their alter-egos—Kiki and Herb-- during an appearance at a San Francisco club. Since then, Kiki and Herb have become delightfully infamous in the cabaret club circuits of San Francisco and New York City. Kiki, the “singer” of the act, a washed-up, sixty-something boozer, is known for her unrestrained digressions and tirades between over-the-top renditions of pop songs. As the show progresses, Kiki becomes more and more belligerent as Herb, her gay piano accompanist, becomes increasingly complacent and self-pitying. Kiki bemoans the state of the world and show business, and every style and genre is unabashedly attacked during the duo’s performances. Kiki and Herb show no remorse when conquering songs such as “Rainbow Connection” and “Total Eclipse of the Heart”. Despite the drama, suffering, and exaggerated interpretations of songs, Kiki and Herb remain edgy, provocative, and laugh-out-loud funny. As the New York Times says, “Kiki and Herb gleams like a rhinestone. Captivating and intelligent.” Or as the New York Daily News exclaims, “Tacky, trashy, and tasteless.” Both trashy and intelligent, Kiki and Herb are a much-needed fix for a much-too-serious world.
Tickets for Kiki and Herb on October 15 range from $30 and $40 and can be purchased by calling 215-893-1999, online at, or at the Kimmel Center box office, open daily from 10am to 6pm and later on performance evenings. (Additional fees may apply). For group sales call 215-790-5883.
