Kimmel Center’s 2005/06 Adult Education Series Announced Mondays at the Merck Offerings To Range from Organ Tours, to Dance, Gospel, Steel Drums and More
October 1, 2005

"Mondays at the Merck" includes a Steel Drum class.
The Kimmel Center today announced details of its 2005/06 Adult Education series, Mondays at the Merck. Now in its second season of offerings for adult life-long learners of all backgrounds and experience levels, there will be six unique programs offered this year, including The Pipe Organ Tour, a Modern Jazz Dance Class, Music Software, The Origins and Roots of Gospel Music, and The Steel Drums: Instruments of the Caribbean.

With the exception of The Pipe Organ Tour which will visit exceptional instruments throughout the local community, all classes take place in the Kimmel Center’s Merck Arts Education Center. Sessions will be taught by Kimmel Center’s teaching staff as well as by special guests.

New this year to the Mondays at the Merck adult education classes is a series of three concerts with conversation led by internationally acclaimed pianist and music educator Jeffrey Siegel. “Jeffrey Siegel uses discussion, demonstration and complete performances of works we all ‘believe’ we know well, to unveil the minds behind the music. Whatever your level of knowledge—novice or expert—you’ll begin to listen in a whole new way,” said Kimmel Center Vice President of Programming and Education Mervon Mehta. Composers covered in this unique series include Beethoven, Mozart and Chopin.

For additional information and to register for classes, call 215-790-5896 or visit the education section on the Kimmel Center homepage.
