Two-Time Tony-Award Winning Dancer/Choreographer Savion Glover® to Perform Classical Savion® at Kimmel Center

This performance is the first of the SEE HEAR! SERIES which incorporates a variety of mediums including video, film and computer technology and live performance art. The next performance is Colonial Holiday on December 8th at 9th, 2005 at 7:30pm. SEE HEAR! continues with Mozart Reloaded by curator Andrea Clearfield on Saturday, January 21, 2006 at 7:30pm. The final performance in the series is POP G on Friday, May 5 at 7:30pm.
Savion Glover®, appears in an evening of inventive tap riffs on classical music accompanied by a string chamber music ensemble. The New York Times raved about its 'stunning intensity…a revelation for eye and ear alike…” Vivaldi, Mozart and Bach provide the backdrop for this unusual partnership between tap and classical music in a virtuosic and athletic yet extremely musical display of the evolution of tap.

At the age of 12, Glover was one of the youngest men to be nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in Black and Blue. He made his Broadway debut at the age of 12 in The Tap Dance Kid. At only 18 he starred opposite Gregory Hines in Broadway’s Jelly’s Last Jam.”
In 1991, Glover received the Martin Luther King, Jr. Outstanding Youth Award. He then received his second Tony Award, in the category of Best Choreography, for Bring in Da’ Noise, Bring in Da’ Funk, the Broadway hit that catapulted him into the international spotlight.
Glover’s television credits include a collaborative effort with Gregory Hines and Tommy Tune for PBS and Nickelodeon entitled Dance in America: Tap!, the Academy Awards, the Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame ceremonies, Sesame Street, Monday Night Football, Savion Glover’s Stomp, Slide & Swing: In Performance, PBS at the White House and The Kennedy Center Honors. His movie credits include a prominent role in Spike Lee’s 2000 release, Bamboozled.

A limited number of $10 tickets are available for every Kimmel Center Presents performance at the Kimmel Center. Tickets go on sale the day of the event and can be purchased 2.5 hours prior to evening performances and 11:30am for matinees.
