The Weather Indoors is Delightful: Enjoy New Year’s Day at the Kimmel Center

Parade-Goers Can Warm Up, Eat Lunch, And Enjoy Entertainment Inside Commonwealth Plaza on New Year’s Day
The Kimmel Center once again opens its doors to New Year’s Day revelers in celebration of the Philadelphia Mummer’s New Year’s Day Parade on Sunday, January 1, 2006 from 10:00am to 6:00pm. Members of the public are invited indoors to the Kimmel’s grand lobby, Commonwealth Plaza, to warm up during the parade and enjoy refreshments and free entertainment in the Plaza throughout the entire day, or to let kids out of their strollers to stretch their legs.
"Last year the Kimmel Center was alive with families and children enjoying the hospitality and warmth of the Kimmel Center on New Year’s Day for one of Philadelphia’s greatest traditions, the joyous and delightful Philadelphia Mummer’s New Year’s Day Parade,” said Janice Price, Kimmel Center, Inc. President and CEO. “We are once again delighted to be a part of this most festive of days here in Center City and to be able to provide a free and open gathering place for the community.”
The Peco Café in Commonwealth Plaza will be open and will sell a variety of refreshments, including hot chocolate for children and adults, as well as a variety of tasty Philly fare for hungry parade-watchers including cheese steak stations, hot dog carts, soft pretzels, chili station, Krispy Krème doughnuts, and an assortment of Philly-brewed beer.
In addition, The Kimmel Center’s Cadence Restaurant will host a New Year’s Day brunch beginning at 10am until 4pm. Brunch patrons will enjoy food and champagne while enjoying the perfect parade view from above and will have access to both indoor and outdoor terrace seating looking down onto Broad Street as the parade passes. Football fans will also be able to watch their favorite games on the restaurant’s large-screen television. Tickets for the brunch are $125 and are non-refundable.
