Adds Additional Performance by Popular Demand

Beatles Tribute Show Makes Philadelphia Premiere at Academy of Music; Local Musician Is ‘John Lennon’

The award-winning Beatles tribute show “The Beatles Experience” performed by RAIN, has added an additional performance on Saturday, January 21 at 8pm due to popular demand. Performed by the group RAIN, the production features all former Beatlemania cast members including Philadelphia area native Steve Landes (John Lennon) from Lansdale, PA. The show comes to the Academy of Music for three evening performances on January 19, 20 and 21. The production is part of the Kimmel Center Presents Cadillac Broadway at the Academy theater series.

Ticket prices range from $34 to $49. Performances are Thursday, January 19, Friday, January 20 and Saturday, January 21 evenings at 8pm. Tickets can be purchased by calling 215-731-3333, online, at the Kimmel Center box office (open daily 10am to 6pm and later on performance evenings) or at the Academy of Music box office on performance afternoons and evenings only.

In a show the Denver Post calls “the next best thing to seeing the Beatles,” “The Beatles Experience” boasts a song list of nearly 200 Beatlemania favorites, ranging from beloved ballads like “Let It Be” and “Hey Jude” to classic hits including “Revolution,” “Come Together” and “Can’t Buy Me Love.”

For the four longtime band members, the music is first and foremost. RAIN distinguishes themselves in their attention to detail, with the ultimate goal of delivering a perfect note-for-note performance. All the music is performed live, with no pre-recorded tapes or sequences.

In addition to Landes, the band also features Joey Curatollo (Paul McCartney), Joe Bithorn (George Harrison) and Ralph Castelli (Ringo Starr).

The Oregonian says, "The band contains better musicians than the Beatles – but then, they'd almost have to be in order to recreate so well the sound."

“The Beatles Experience” is a multi-media, multi-dimensional production featuring set and costume changes, video screens and live camera projection, combining television commercials and historical video footage from the '60s. Live video technology provides views of the band through close ups and different angles, as members of the audience are projected onto the main screens for a completely interactive experience.
