Russian baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky made his western operatic debut at the Nice Opera, after which his career rapidly expanded to international venues such as the Royal Opera House, the Berlin State Opera, the Teatro alla Scala, the Metropolitan Opera, Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall, and the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. A number of composers have been inspired to write pieces specifically for his renowned voice, including Georgi Sviridov and Giya Kancheli. Although the “Siberian Tiger” no longer resides in Russia, he has continued to develop his understanding of Russia’s cultural heritage with his explorations of Russian sacred music and Romances.

Pianist Ivari Ilja was born in Tallinn, Estonia, where he studied piano at the Tallinn State Conservatoire and at the Moscow Tchaikovsky. He has won prices in several national and international competitions, including the Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw and the Vianna da Motta Piano Competition in Lisbon. Ilja has given numerous recitals and performed as a soloist with orchestras including the Moscow Symphony Orchestra, the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra and the St.Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, with such conductors as Arvo Volmer, Eri Klas, Leo Krämer, Veronica Dudarova, Urs Schneider, Roman Matsov, Imants Resnis, Andres Mustonen, Peeter Lilje, Theodore Kuchar and Vello Pähn.
