Kimmel Center Presents 2006/07 Season Opening Weekend
August 15, 2006

Lyle Lovett
The Kimmel Center Presents 2006/07 season introduces four-time Grammy®-winning Lyle Lovett and his Large Band in Concert in Verizon Hall on Saturday, September 16, 2006 at 8 pm. Sweeping the country with Texas shuffle and western swing hits throughout his career, Lyle Lovett continues to engage audiences with his clever songwriting abilities and infectious melodies.
While developing his own unconventional style through the years, Lovett’s songs have explored his country roots with gospel and R&B influences. His music, lyrically rich and full of imagery, can bring a country porch to life, tell a story of man seeking love through rodeo images, and explore ballad styles over a Spanish guitar.
Lyle Lovett and his Large Band in Concert is the first in the Sovereign Bank World/Pop series of concerts. Upcoming concerts in the series include: Indigo Girls, Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at 8pm; Emmylou Harris on Sunday, October 15 at 7:30pm; A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at 5:45pm.; among other performances.
Tickets for Lyle Lovett and his Large Band are $72, $65, $50 and $40, and can be purchased by calling 215-893-1999, online at www.kimmelcenter.org, or at the Kimmel Center box office, open daily from 10am to 6pm and later on performance evenings. (Additional fees may apply). For group sales call 215-893-5883.
A limited number of $10 tickets are available for every Kimmel Center Presents performance at the Kimmel Center. Tickets go on sale the day of the event and can be purchased at the Kimmel Center box office beginning 2.5 hours prior to curtain time and 11:30am for matinees. Limit one ticket per person.
Texas singer/songwriter Lyle Lovett emerged in 1986 with MCA Records and released his self-titled debut album. Although he is typically associated with the country genre, Lovett’s albums are broader in scope and incorporate folk, swing, blues, jazz and gospel music, as well as more traditional country styling. He has won four Grammy® Awards and is also known for his acting, appearing in several Robert Altman films. Lovett's most recent album, My Baby Don't Tolerate, released in 2003, reveals his songwriting skills and vast vocal talents.
