More Artist Chats, Free in the Plaza Performances, and Organ Postludes to Celebrate Kimmel Center Presents' 5th Anniversary Season

Kimmel Center Presents offers more than fifty Free at the Kimmel community events and performances throughout the Kimmel Center’s spaces during the 2006/07 5th Anniversary season. Free at the Kimmel includes: Free in the Plaza with local artists performing classical, jazz, pop, country, world, dance and family fun on the Commonwealth Plaza stage; as well as Artist Chats with Kimmel Center Presents performers; education events in the Merck Arts Education Center; and Organ preludes and postludes on The Fred J. Cooper Memorial Organ in Verizon Hall. Updates and complete schedules are available at www.kimmelcenter.org. All artists and programs are subject to change.

Thursday, September 14

Turbo Tabla
Egyptian percussionist Karim Nagi's Turbo Tabla combines the spontaneity of a live drummer with the stylistic intensity of a DJ. It's Arabic music reimagined.

Friday, September 15

Joanna Pascale
Since emerging onto the Philadelphia jazz scene Pascale has established herself as a compelling and skilled vocalist. Relishing the more obscure standards from the Great American Songbook, her vivid interpretations are maturely expressive and ooze romantic grace. Followed by Trudy Pitts and Nancy Wilson ticketed performances in Verizon Hall.

Daria
Bring the kids and sing along! Daria shares her amazing array of unusual instruments in new songs from her latest CD Beautiful Rainbow World and favorites from American and world folk music. Perfect for ages one to four.

Lazlo

Latin Fiesta Ensemble with Maria del Pico Taylor
Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month!
The acclaimed Latin Fiesta ensemble is led by Cuban pianist Maria del Pico Taylor and violinist Raymond Taylor. Shifting from hot salsa to classical, contemporary Latin to Baroque to Afro-Cuban conga, this group will captivate all audiences! Followed by organist Cherry Rhodes ticketed performance in Verizon Hall at 3pm.
