Part of the Kimmel Center Presents Cadillac Broadway at the Academy theater series, Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding is one of the most successful hits in Off-Broadway history. The New York production opened in 1988.

At Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding, audience members actually play the roles of Tony n’ Tina’s family and friends—everyone is either related to…or friends with the bride and groom! Audience participants blend in with the extremely funny wedding ceremony and reception – eating, drinking, dancing, conversing and caught up in the wedding activities. The reception includes an Italian buffet and champagne toast. A live wedding band provides music for dancing. Audiences should come dressed for a wedding—either formal or dressy casual.

The cast features two local Philadelphia natives, Ralph Tedesco as ‘Tony’ and Nicole Pressman as ‘Tina.’

Philadelphia producer Howard Perloff first brought the happy couple to Philadelphia in 1989 after discovering the show in New York. After walking the streets of South Philadelphia, Perloff decided on Torano’s Restaurant (formerly Cuz’s) at 11th and Christian Streets, just one block from the Italian Market in the heart of Philadelphia’s ‘Little Italy.’ Conveniently, there was a small Baptist church next to Torano’s that would serve as the site for the ‘wedding’, with the ‘reception’ at Torano’s.

With numerous touring productions nationwide, insiders agree that the original Philadelphia site was the best setting in the United States. Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding moved to the Venice Plaza---site of many an Italian wedding--- in South Philadelphia. For the past three years, the production has also played on the cruise ship, The Spirit of Philadelphia,’ and will do so again this spring.

In addition to Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding, the 2006-2007 Cadillac Broadway at the Academy theater and subscription season also includes: The Beatles Experience performed by RAIN (January 4 – 7 & 11 – 14); Pippin (Jan. 11 – 15); Annie (March 1 – 4); Monty Python’s SPAMALOT (March 20 – April 8); Riverdance (May 15 – 20); and WICKED (July 25 – August 19).

All performances of Kimmel Center Presents Cadillac Broadway at the Academy are supported by Cadillac, the Philadelphia Coca Cola Bottling Company, WPVI-TV 6, The Philadelphia Inquirer & Philadelphia Daily News. American Airlines is the Official Airline of Cadillac Broadway at the Academy.
