Of all the performances to emerge from Ireland in the past decade, nothing can compare to the energy, the sensuality and the spectacle of Riverdance. Composed by Bill Whelan, produced by Moya Doherty and directed by John McColgan, Riverdance has played over 9,000 performances, been seen live by more than 19,350,000 people in over 276 venues throughout 32 countries across 4 continents. They have traveled over 500,000 miles (or to the moon and back!), played to a worldwide television audience of over 1.75 billion; sold over 2.5 million copies of the Grammy Award-winning CD (certified Platinum in the United States) and over 9 million videos making it one of the best-selling entertainment videos in the world!

Riverdance had its world premiere at the Point Theatre, Dublin, in February 1995, where it opened to unanimous critical acclaim. Innovative and exciting in its unique blend of dance, music and song, Riverdance draws on Irish traditions and the combined talents of the performers to propel Irish dancing and music to the present day and capture the imagination of audiences across all ages and cultures. Riverdance, which boasts an international company of 70 performers all performing to the magic of Bill Whelan’s music, now returns to Philadelphia!

"An explosion of sight and sound that simply takes your breath away," cheers the Chicago Tribune. "A family evening unlike anything else!" raves The London Times. Rediscover the Original! Whether it’s your first time or your fifth, there is no better time to share the magic of Riverdance with your family.

In addition to RIVERDANCE, the 2006-2007 Cadillac Broadway at the Academy theater season also includes Monty Python’s SPAMALOT (March 20 – April 8) and WICKED (July 25 – August 19).
