The program, called "The Four Seasons," presents a historical interpretation of the passion and sensuality that intertwine tango, which first began in the streets of Buenos Aires to evolve into the popular ballroom dance it is today.

Tango Buenos Aires originated out of the "Jazmines" festival at the famous cabaret "Michelangelo," the most important club for Tango in Buenos Aires. The company became an immediate success and in 1986, they traveled to New York City’s Delacorte Theatre in Central Park to represent Argentina in the Latin-American Festival. During the same year, the group toured extensively throughout the United States, Mexico and Japan. The company has become so successful that they have been performing around the globe virtually nonstop for two decades touring throughout the United States Coast-to-Coast, South America, Southeast Asia, and Europe. Tango Buenos Aires’ extensive tours have created an international admiration and understanding of the Tango. Under the patronage of the President of Argentina, the company introduced Tango to Indonesia for the first time ever in 1991.

Cristian Zárate, a gifted pianist and bandoneón player, is Music Director of Tango Buenos Aires. Since his debut with the company in 1999, he has toured with Tango Buenos Aires in Japan, Holland, Belgium, Brazil and now the United States. He is also the leader of his own quintet, sextet and Orquesta Color Tango, with which he has made several recordings. Zárate has performed and recorded as a solo artist. He is also the orchestra director for the film Tango and music director of the house orchestra at Michelangelo.

Lidia Segni, choreographer of Tango Buenos Aires, began her classical ballet career at age 5 in her hometown of Corboba City, Argentina. In 1977, she became prima ballerina at the esteemed Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires. This position allowed Segni the opportunity to perform as the leading role for numerous works. That same year, she created her own company so that she could tour the world as a ballerina. Segni has since become a master ballet instructor, Artistic Director of the Julio Bocca Ballet Argentino and Director of the Ballet of the Teatro Argentino. She has traveled around the world teaching classes, staging performances, being a guest dancer and organizing educational trips for teachers and students. As the current choreographer of Tango Buenos Aires, Segni still finds time to teach ballet at her dance studio in Buenos Aires.
