Philly Natives Hall and Oates’ Home for Christmas Debut Performance at the Kimmel Center December 17
December 10, 2007

Philadelphia natives Daryl Hall and John Oates make their long-awaited Kimmel Center debut with Home for Christmas on Monday, December 17, 2007 at 8pm in Verizon Hall. Fixtures in the Philly soul scene, Hall and Oates’ combination of soul, folk and R&B influences in smash hits like "Maneater" and "Private Eyes" of the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s has made them the most successful duo in rock history. More recent successes include 2003’s "Do It for Love" and the recent 2007 re-release of their first Christmas album, Home for Christmas. The power duo now celebrates the 40th anniversary of their first meeting at a Philadelphia nightclub. Their performance includes holiday selections such as "The First Noel," "Mary Had a Baby," "O Holy Night" and "Jingle Bell Rock;" their own originals "Home for Christmas" and "No Child Should Ever Cry on Christmas;" as well as their version of "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear," the #1 hit on Billboard's Christmas chart last year.
Tickets for Hall and Oates are $51, $55, $65, $75, $95 and $125 and can be purchased by calling 215-893-1999, online at www.kimmelcenter.org, or at the Kimmel Center box office open daily from 10am to 6pm and later on performance evenings. (Additional fees may apply.) For group sales call 215-790-5883.
A limited number of $10 tickets are available for every Kimmel Center Presents performance at the Kimmel Center. Tickets go on sale the day of the event and can be purchased at the Kimmel Center box office beginning 2.5 hours prior to curtain time and 11:30am for matinees. Limit one ticket per person.
Forty years after their first meeting in Philadelphia, Daryl Hall and John Oates continue to record and perform their distinctive and enduring blend of rock and soul. Meeting in a freight elevator while escaping a riot at Philadelphia’s Adelphi Ballroom in 1967, Hall and Oates quickly made a name for themselves with their breakthrough album Abandoned Luncheonette in 1973, which is still considered one of the duo’s finest albums. Since then, Hall and Oates have garnered a total of eight #1 hit singles along with dozens of hits throughout the past three decades, including "Rich Girl," "Kiss On My List," "Maneater," "Private Eyes," "I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do)," "Sara Smile," "She’s Gone," and "One On One." In the past decade, Hall and Oates have toured consistently around the world, and have continued to record both together and separately with impressive results, including the induction of their body of work together into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame in 2004. Hall and Oates released their first full Christmas album, Home for Christmas, in 2006. The soulful seasonal effort highlighted by a cover of Robbie Robertson’s "Christmas Must Be Tonight" also includes two moving originals, the title track and "No Child Should Ever Cry at Christmas."
