Genre-bending vocalist Rufus Wainwright will make his Kimmel Center debut with special guest singer-songwriter Martha Wainwright for a Valentine's Day performance in Verizon Hall on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 8pm. The son of folk music icons Loudon Wainwright III and Kate McGarrigle, Rufus has been performing since the age of 13, and has toured extensively both as a solo artist as well as alongside Tori Amos, Sting and Guster. Rufus Wainwright will showcase his distinctively warm vocal timbre in a solo piano set, featuring works from his most recent album, Release the Stars (2007).

Martha Wainwright, Rufus' younger sister and a rising star in her own right, will open the show with songs from her new album I Know You're Married But I’ve Got Feelings Too (2008). Martha meshes elements of rock, folk, country and cabaret for a sophomore album that is "full of delicious melodies, bold arrangements and expert musicianship" (Los Angeles Times).

Tickets for Rufus Wainwright with Special Guest Martha Wainwright are $30, $40 and $50 and will be available for purchase beginning Monday, October 13, 2008 at 10am by calling 215-893-1999, online at www.kimmelcenter.org, or at the Kimmel Center box office open daily from 10am to 6pm and later on performance evenings. (Additional fees may apply.) For group sales call 215-790-5883.
