Give My Regards to Broadway Premieres in Philadelphia at the Kimmel Center, January 8-February 1

A new musical revue, Give My Regards to Broadway, will make its premiere at the Kimmel Center’s Innovation Studio for a four-week limited engagement beginning January 8 – February 1. Produced and conceived by Philadelphia producer Howard Perloff, the new song and dance musical is directed by Tony Braithwaite and choreographed by Peter Rios. The official press opening is Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at 8pm.

Part of the Broadway Series, tickets at $47 are on sale now at the Kimmel Center box office, Broad & Spruce Sts. (open daily 10am to 6pm), by calling 215-731-3333, or online at www.kimmelcenter.org/broadway. Group discounts are available by calling 215-790-5883.

Performances include: Thursdays and Fridays at 8pm; Saturdays at 5pm and 8pm; Sundays at 3pm. Additional performances are scheduled for Tuesday, January 13, 2009 and Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at 8pm.

Give My Regards to Broadway is a musical revue which tells the history of tap dance, from its evolution on the streets of America to its success in film and eventually on the Broadway stage. The production features a musical score of over 20 songs written by American composers from the early 1900’s through the middle of the century including George M. Cohan, Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Cole Porter and others.

Led by a talented six-person cast, the collection of music is some of the well-known popular classics of all time including: "You’re A Grand Old Flag," "Alexander’s Ragtime Band," "You Made Me Love You- I Didn’t Want To Do It," "Second Hand Rose," "Embraceable You," "Anything Goes," and the title song, "Give My Regards To Broadway."

The 2008-2009 Broadway Series, where theatrical presentations in Philadelphia will be presented at the Academy of Music and the Forrest Theatre, also includes: A Chorus Line (Dec. 16 – Jan. 4) at the Forrest Theatre; Ain’t Misbehavin’ (Jan. 9 – 11); Jesus Christ Superstar (Jan. 30 – Feb. 1); RENT (Feb. 3 – 8); Happy Days – A New Musical (Mar. 24 – 29); Riverdance (Mar. 31 – Apr. 5); Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (April 7 – 12); Movin’ Out (May 15 – 17); and Spring Awakening (June 23 – 28).
