Overview

The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts has announced that its October 29th performance by Mexican rock band Mexrrissey will now be a FREE ticketed event – a gift to Philadelphia in celebration of Mexican holiday Dia de los Muertos. The group will perform for one-night-only at the Kimmel Center’s Perelman Theater, taking the greatest hits of iconic artists Morrissey and The Smiths and reinventing them with Mexican flare.

Don't forget to stop by Bar Volvér for their themed drink “The Mexrrissey Rocktail”! See the making of The Mexrrissey Rocktail in the video below.

Please Note:  you may join the standby line on the evening of the event.  If there are open spaces at the start time, those in line will be seated first come first serve at that time. Entry from the standby line is not guaranteed.

Delving into Mexico’s unlikely obsession for all-things-Morrissey, Mexrrissey has translated Morrissey’s most venerable songs into Spanish and laced them with Latin beats. Dubbed a “Gobal Phenomenon” by The Guardian and this year’s winner of “Best Latin Alternative Abum” by Billboard Magazine, the band is led by Camilo Lara, the DJ behind the respected electronica outfit Mexican Institute of Sound. Using brass, accordion, and other Mexican elements, Mexrrissey bring its seriously remixed Morrissey to the Kimmel Center stage for an all out celebration.
