This program features Francis Poulenc’s musical adaptation of one of the best-loved children’s books of the 20th century. Take a trip into the jungle and delight in the story of a young, orphaned elephant who grows up to become King.

Join us for a celebration of Native-American culture in sounds and words, as we discover its magic wisdom and fun rhythms. The Philadelphia Orchestra welcomes world-renowned flutist R. Carlos Nakai and the Intercultural Journeys ensemble.

Celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr.

This special program celebrates the potential of all young people to make a difference. In commemoration of Dr. King and his legacy, the Orchestra features music of African-American composers.  Conductor Thomas Wilkins leads this concert in the historic Academy of Music.

Beethoven Lives Upstairs

Embark on the story of young Christoph, who is convinced his mother has rented out the upstairs room to a madman. The madman turns out to be Ludwig van Beethoven, who is busy composing his Ninth Symphony. Join Christoph as he gets to know Beethoven and his music, understanding Beethoven’s fiery passion as well as his softer side.  Classical Kids LIVE! presents this highly acclaimed program.

  • The School Concert Curriculum contains lesson plans and supplemental materials designed to enhance your students' concert experience.  The Curriculum is aligned with the National Standards for Music Education and is provided as a free resource for teachers.
  • Request a classroom visit by a docent volunteer to help prepare your students for the School Concert experience.  You can request a docent visit when ordering your tickets or by e-mailing education@philorch.org.
  • Earn Professional Development credits by attending the Teacher Workshops
