 SALUTE TO STREET CORNER HARMONY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Philadelphia, December 17, 2015) –– The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts proudly welcomes back radio legend and Philadelphia’s King of Rock and Roll Jerry Blavat to Verizon Hallfor a special Salute to Street Corner Harmony on Saturday, January 23 at 8:00 p.m. Commonly referred to as the “Boss with the Hot Sauce” and “Geator with the Heater,” Jerry Blavat is a cultural icon in Philadelphia, well-known for his electrifying on-air personality and encyclopedic knowledge of music, writers, and performers. As per tradition for his appearances at the Kimmel Center, attendees are invited to the Commonwealth Plaza for cocktails and dancing prior to the performance.

“Jerry Blavat truly embodies the Philadelphia music scene and has been its greatest ambassador for decades,” said Anne Ewers, President & CEO of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. “Jerry’s performances are a highly-anticipated events for fans who return year after year. We can’t wait for Jerry and his guests to get everyone on their feet, enjoying the hits of the 50s and 60s.” 

The program features an all-star lineup including New York City legends The Dimensions, The Dubs, and Eugene Pitt, 2010 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honorees The Chantels, local favorites Billy and the Essentials, as well as Pittsburgh legends The Skyliners and The Marcels. Jerry and his guests will perform feel-good hits from the late 50s and early 60s including “Walking Along” and “Since I Don’t Have You,” among other classics.
