PROGRESSIVE ROCK ICONS KING CRIMSON BRING ‘RADICAL ACTION’ TO PHILLY FOR TWO NIGHTS NOVEMBER 2 & 3 AT MERRIAM THEATER

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Philadelphia, PA, September 25, 2017) –– Progressive rock icons King Crimson, have announced an extension to their 2017 North American Radical Action Tour, including a stop at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts’ Merriam Theater in Philadelphia, PA for two nights, November 2 and 3, 2017.

“We are thrilled to welcome the return of King Crimson to our Campus following the popularity of their 2014 Kimmel Center engagement,” said Anne Ewers, President and CEO of the Kimmel Center. “The group shares a passion for innovation, covers a wide range of musical genres, and will appeal to the broad and diverse Kimmel Center audience eager for their return.”

King Crimson was conceived in 1968, and officially formed in 1969, in the Fulham Palace Cafe, London (Fripp/Ian McDonald/Greg Lake/Michael Giles/Pete Sinfield), coming to prominence after supporting The Rolling Stones at Hyde Park. Their ground-breaking debut In The Court Of The Crimson King (1969), described by Pete Townshend as "an uncanny masterpiece", began a career that has spanned nearly five decades.

The current 8-piece lineup – its ninth since 1969 – includes founder Robert Fripp on guitar, Tony Levin on bass, singer-guitarist Jakko Jakszyk, and Mel Collins on flute and saxophones alongside the drummers and multi-instrumentalists, Gavin Harrison, Pat Mastelotto, Jeremy Stacey and Bill Rieflin. This iteration of the band has been touring since 2014, honoring the band’s strong reputation with three albums and sold out shows across the globe – a testament to the band’s timeless and original sound.

Other featured upcoming performances at the Kimmel Center Cultural Campus include: YES ft. Anderson, Rabin, Wakeman (October 1, 2017, Verizon Hall), Michael McDonald (October 27, 2017, Merriam Theater), An Evening with Dream Theater (November 1, 2017, Merriam Theater), The National (December 4, 2017, Verizon Hall), and G3 2018: Joe Satriani, John Petrucci (of Dream Theater) & Phil Collen (of Def Leppard) (February 17, 2018, Merriam Theater).
