LEWIS BLACK BRINGS HIS INFAMOUS YELL AND SARCASTIC WIT TO THE ACADEMY OF MUSIC IN THE EMPEROR’S NEW CLOTHES: THE NAKED TRUTH TOUR, NOVEMBER 5, 2016

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Philadelphia, PA, September 21, 2016) –– Notorious for his iconic voice, angry finger pointing, and bitter rants, Lewis Black takes the Academy of Music stage for one night of hilarious wit and satire. Following his extremely successful previous tours, The Emperor’s New Clothes: The Naked Truth Tour will play the Academy of Music on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. This show is presented in association with Live Nation.

“Lewis Black has proved time and time again that he can crack audiences up simply by commenting on what is happening in our world,” said Anne Ewers, President and CEO of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. “A versatile performer, from film to standup, I have no doubt that fans will love seeing Black get – as he says –‘mad about the madness.’”

Audiences can expect to see Black’s candid and blunt humor combined with his self-proclaimed “pissed-off optimism” while making compelling points about the absurdity of our world. The Emperor’s New Clothes: The Naked Truth Tour will feature Black’s trademark yelling and hilarious commentary on the upcoming presidential election and much more.

Best known for his intense release of anger and disillusionment during live performances, Lewis Black first popped up on national television during appearances on The Daily Show in 1996. Those appearances led to comedy specials on HBO, Comedy Central, Showtime, and EPIX. Black has won multiple Grammy Awards for his comedy albums and has published three best-selling books: Nothing’s Sacred (Simon & Schuster, 2005), Me of Little Faith (Riverhead Books, 2008), and I’m Dreaming of a Black Christmas (Riverhead Books, 2010).

Other upcoming shows on the Kimmel Center Campus include Neil DeGrasse Tyson (November 30, 2016, Academy of Music), Hasan Minhaj (December 2, 2016, Perelman Theater), and The Second City (February 3-4, 2016, Perelman Theater).
