Show to Include Stand-Up, Clips, Musical Numbers, and Bluegrass Band Steep Canyon Rangers

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Philadelphia, PA, August 25, 2016 ) –– Legendary comedians Steve Martin and Martin Short will be coming to the Academy of Music for two performances, Friday, October 28at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 29th at 7:00 p.m. Their hilarious show, An Evening You Will Forget for the Rest of Your Life, features stand-up, film clips, musical numbers, and conversations about their lives in show business. Joining the comedians on stage will be Grammy® Award-winning bluegrass band, Steep Canyon Rangers, with whom Martin frequently performs. This show is presented in association with Larry Magid Entertainment.

“Both Steve Martin and Martin Short are long-reigning kings of comedy so the possibilities are endless for what this show will have to offer their fans,” said Ed Cambron, Executive Vice President of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. “I guarantee An Evening You Will Forget for the Rest of Your Life will be quite the opposite, leaving the audience reliving this hilarious night long after they’ve left.”

Steve Martin began his journey into the spotlight after leaving college to write for TV, releasing four comedy albums between 1977 and 1981, winning him two Grammy Awards for Let's Get Small and A Wild and Crazy Guy. Martin starred in his first full-length feature film, The Jerk, in 1979, starting his successful acting career with films such as Father of the Bride, The Jerk, All of Me, Little Shop of Horror, amongst many others. Most recently, Martin began to master other forms of entertainment, entering the music industry with the release of The Crow. The Crow, a collection of banjo compositions, went on to earn him the Grammy® Award for Bluegrass Album of the Year, and garnered two follow-up albums.

Martin Short has amused audiences both on stage and screen from the start of his career. Short began his comedy career touring with Toronto’s Second City comedy troupe before moving to New York City. Following his move to New York, he was cast on the iconic Emmy® Award winning comedy show, Saturday Night Live. Following his success with Saturday Night Live, Short has appeared in some of cinemas’ biggest comedy hits of the 1980s including Innerspace and Three Amigos.  In more recent years, Short has shown his dramatic side, guest starring in crime drama Law & Order: SVU and joining the cast of the legal drama Damages in 2010.
