KIMMEL CENTER PRESIDENT & CEO ANNE EWERS WINS BRONZE STEVIE® AWARD IN 2016 STEVIE AWARDS FOR WOMEN IN BUSINESS

Ms. Ewers Recognized Among Women from Around the World at Event in New York City

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Philadelphia, PA, December 5, 2016) –– Anne Ewers, President & CEO of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts has been named the winner of a bronze Stevie® Award in the Women Helping Women – Government or Non-Profit category in the 13th annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business.

“I am beyond humbled to be recognized by this distinguished organization,” said Ms. Ewers of the Award. “Good things are rarely accomplished alone and success is tied to getting the right advice or support from the right people. For that reason, mentoring has and will always be a tremendous part of both my personal and professional lives.”

More than 1,400 nominations from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted this year for consideration in more than 90 categories, including Entrepreneur of the Year, Executive of the Year, Company of the Year, Startup of the Year, Women Helping Women, and Women Run Workplace of the Year, among others. Kimmel Center President & CEO Anne Ewers won in the Women Helping Women category for Government or Non-Profit.

The nomination, “Have A Mentor, Be A Mentor,” focused around Ms. Ewers’ work mentoring young female professionals and entrepreneurs in Philadelphia and beyond. Throughout her career, Ms. Ewers has been committed to helping women in the community to help guide their professional endeavors and create meaningful networks. Toi Sweeney, a personal brand stylist and one of Ms. Ewers’ mentees, has said of her role, "Anne is a true professional. Her elegance and down to earth leadership style leaves you feeling like you can conquer the world."

Another mentee, Stephanie Humphrey, a tech-life expert and media personality, adds “There have of course been many people in my life who have helped me along the way, but Anne is my first ‘official’ mentor! I don't think I had truly understood or appreciated the value of that role before, but I know I have grown tremendously in the time we've shared together so far. I look up to her for her leadership and wisdom, and she has provided me with invaluable advice and guidance that I will carry throughout my career and my life. Anne took a chance on a relative stranger, but I am honored to now be able to call her a friend.

The Stevie Awards for Women in Business are the world’s top honors for female entrepreneurs, executives, employees and the organizations they run.  All individuals and organizations worldwide are eligible to submit nominations – public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small. The 2016 awards received entries from 31 nations and territories.

Nicknamed the Steviesfor the Greek word for “crowned,” the awards were presented to winners last night during a dinner event attended by more than 500 people at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.  The event was broadcast on Livestream.

Stevie Award winners were selected by more than 160 professionals worldwide who participated in the judging process this year.

“Each year we think the quality of achievements portrayed in Stevie-winning nominations couldn’t possibly get any better, and each year the amazing women who are recognized in this program prove us wrong,” said Michael Gallagher, Stevie Awards founder and president.  “We are thrilled and humbled to be able to recognize so many outstanding women in the Stevie Awards for Women in Business, and to share the stories of their achievement with the world.”
