KIMMEL CENTER INTRODUCES NEW TEACHER APPRECIATION INITIATIVE FOR 2016–17 SEASON

Newly-launched program will provide 1,000 free tickets to local teachers plus educator discount

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Philadelphia, PA, October 27, 2016) –– New for the 2016–17 season, the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts – in partnership with The School District of Philadelphia and The Philadelphia Federation of Teachers – has announced the details of a new Teacher Appreciation Program. In celebration of Philadelphia’s most inspiring teachers, the organization will give away 1,000 free tickets throughout the season and has instated a special discount for educators of up to 35% percent for select performances.

In addition to the Center’s already robust free and low-cost educational programs, this initiative aims to reward educators for their tireless efforts to shape the next generation of arts lovers in Philadelphia. Principals can nominate inspiring teachers by sending an email to teachers@kimmelcenter.org and highlighting why they are deserving.

“We hope this program will help us reach more educators than ever before. It is our way to show appreciation for their work and to introduce them to the fantastic, free educational resources that the Kimmel Center has to offer,” said Anne Ewers, President & CEO of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. “Part of our mission is to provide vital arts education and community programming, and this new initiative showcases our commitment to this most deserving and influential group.”

The following Kimmel Center Resident Companies are also participating in the program offering free or discounted tickets: Opera Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, Curtis Institute of Music, and PHILADANCO.
