Chat With Intern Marketing

Posted by:  Kimmel Center on April 14, 2017

We chatted with one of our stellar Marketing interns, Taylor, about her background, her post-graduation plans, and her advice for future interns!

What school do you attend? What is your major?

I go to Temple University’s Fox School of Business, and my major is in Marketing.

Why did you choose to intern with the Kimmel Center?

I have been a dancer since the age of two and developed a love for the performing arts. When I went to Indiana University of Pennsylvania, I was working towards a dance minor and wanted to combine my passion for dance with my love for marketing. I knew working at the Kimmel Center wouldn’t be just a job for me, it would become a lifestyle!

Have you ever seen a show at the Kimmel Center, and if so, which one?

In December, I saw a performance of the Broadway Up Close series with Matthew Morrison and Seth Rudetsky, and it was amazing! Glee is one of my favorite shows, so I really enjoyed hearing Matthew share his stories about his Broadway journey and watching his breathtaking performances.

Do you have a Kimmel Center “ah ha” moment?

My “ah ha” moment was this December when I went to see Matthew Morrison. When I walked into the Kimmel Center and saw the way it was decorated for the holidays, it truly took my breath away. I was able to witness the excitement of all the guests, and everyone was dressed stunningly to attend their shows.  I kept looking around astonished and saying to my mom with excitement “I honestly can’t believe I work here!”

What would you say to another student looking to intern here?

To any student looking to intern at The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, this internship is the opportunity of a lifetime. I honestly can say I enjoy every single day I come to work, and I’ve learned so much to prepare me for the working world. The environment and the staff are truly incredible, which allowed me to feel comfortable to ask questions and be myself.  Each day there is always something new and exciting to learn and work on. Lastly, I can’t forget to mention the lifelong friendships I have with all the interns who have made my interning experience something I will never forget.

What are your dreams post-graduation?

My main dream post-graduation is to be offered a job position in the performing arts industry or the entertainment industry. I would love nothing more than to work at the Kimmel Center one day! I also plan on attending graduate school to earn a Master of Business Administration.

Tell us 3 fun facts about yourself.

1. I am a huge country music fan, and I’m attending the CMA fest in Nashville as my graduation present!

2. I was a national group and solo dance competitor in Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Lyrical, and Modern.

3. Last year I attended the Marine Corps Ball in California with my best friend Cory who is a sergeant in the Marines.
